As Fall ‘26 rush has finally come to a close, we want to take a look back on all that’s happened throughout September!
We kicked off our rush semester with an info session to give our potential new members (PNMs) a deeper understanding of what KHK stands for, followed by a game night for some lighthearted fun!
For our second event, we hosted Stephanie Salazar Kann, the director of UW-Madison’s Engineering Career Services! She gave an excellent presentation on preparing ourselves and our resumes for UW’s Engineering Career Fair before we moved into resume peer reviews for the remainder of the event.
For our third event, we held a trivia night with Kahoots on general trivia, Madison-area trivia, and, of course, KHK’s specialty: CS and Engineering concepts!
For our fourth event, we held one of our favorite traditional rush events: speed dating! Actives went down the line having rapid-fire interviews with PNMs until they talked to everyone. Then round 2 started, where the PNMs got to interview us! It’s always a fun event, and it really helped the actives get to know our PNM class.
For our fifth event, some of our recent alumni came in to give talks on their work and experience in their industry! We hosted Kira Israni, a software engineer at Apple, Dhruv Kerai, a design automation engineer at Arm, Nicole Kemnitz, a project manager at Epic, and Jack Rollins, a PhD researcher in 2D quantum materials.
For our final event, we hosted another classic: bowling night at Sett Recreation! We had a great time bowling and playing billiards, ping pong, and MarioKart Wii with the PNMs.
Throughout our 6 rush events in September, we got to know over 90 PNMs. It was awesome seeing the variety of lively engineers, CS majors, and related STEM majors that wanted to improve themselves professionally and grow their community by rushing KHK. In the end, 24 of those PNMs stood out to our active membership as having great potential to contribute to KHK’s mission and community. We had the honor of inducting those 24 into our Fall ‘26 pledge class with our traditional steak dinner this Friday!
Congratulations to Ashley Williams, Benjamin Levine, Carson Emenecker, Efe Ozalp, Emily Kwon, Erica Levene, Gianna Wulterkens, Jacob Woolery, Jeff Ma, Jerome Blass, Jinhyeok Yim, Kiela King, Liliana Wallace, Logan Eskigian, Logan Neufeld, Lokesh Sai Dasari, Lucas Xu, Oleksandr Kurtianyk, Quinn Toney, Rachel Kos, Sathvik Shenoy, Sheryl Wang, Stephan Roeder, and Yemi Mengistu for taking the plunge and pledging KHK. We’re excited to see how you all grow throughout the pledging process and contribute to KHK’s culture!
